“A unique, contemporary and cohesive apartment showing off great design”

Summary

The couple who bought this amazing city apartment was downsizing from a large family home in a nearby River-side suburb, and wanted to take their apartment from dated, slightly masculine and ordinary, to become a unique, highly contemporary space that they could feel they’d left the pressures of work behind when they stepped through the door.

Opportunities

The layout and size of the apartment was very good, however the living area appeared narrow and long. We saw an opportunity to open the space up between the Lounge and Master by installing a double-sided fireplace. We also knew we could give the illusion of a lot more space and volume by eliminating many of the unsightly bulkheads throughout, and tricking the eye with clever design to make Lounge appear much wider, and provide a stunning monochromatic masterpiece of a Kitchen.

Complexities

Working in a high-rise secure apartment building was always going to be a challenge. We made certain we had the correct approvals, struck up a great relationship with the onsite Building Manager, and kept other residents onside throughout the building program.
